Butterfly Cover up

This tattoo was a cover up. My dads client wanted to cover up a ladybug that she had tattooed a while back. In these pictures you with just the outline you can see through to the ladybug but when it is completely done you can't even tell that there was a ladybug ever there. This tattoo was also placed on the wrist and took about hour and a half - two hours. This tattoo was another tattoo that was drawn in sharpie markers then gone over with the tattoo machine instead of making a stencil for it.

Blue rose

There isn't much to say about this tattoo. This is a tattoo of a blue rose on my dad's clients wrist. Instead of drawing an outline and making a stencil for this tattoo my dad used sharpie markers and free hand drew this rose on his clients wrist and then went over it with the tattoo machine. This tattoo is completely custom straight from my dad. This tattoo took about an hour and a half for him to do.

Crimson Ghost

This tattoo is a picture of Glen Danzig in the Crimson Ghost costume from the band Misfits. This was a difficult piece because my dads client came in with and old T- shirt and it had the face that he wanted but it was very old and worn so my dad had trouble making it out. He had to look online for the exact picture. Then his client wanted the arms from and album on the the head from the shirt so it was a lot of custom cutting and pasting to get the exact thing that his client had wanted. Also the crimson ghost always has his hood up in pictures and my dads client wanted Glen Danzig's hair on the crimson ghost head with arms from a different album. This piece was a lot of research it was pretty much a puzzle my dad had put together with all the different pictures. This tattoo took about 4-5 hours. This tattoo was placed on the upper arm of my dads client.

G man

This tattoo is very special to the client who got it. My dad had a client come in and he wanted a tattoo for his son who has down syndrome. The colors of the awareness ribbon for down syndrome are gold and blue. So he was getting a gold and blue ribbon on his leg. My dad asked if there was anything else that his son did or said or anything else that reminded him of his son. His client said that his son calls him G man. My dad was able to take the awareness ribbon and make the front of it look like the superman cape. He thought well G man Superman, those are a like so he took the s out of the superman logo and put the g there and this is how the tattoo came out. I like this tattoo a lot. I'm sure his client was very happy with it and now he will always have it to represent his son.

Nightmare Before Christmas Duck

This tattoo is the duck from Nightmare Before Christmas. This tattoo is pretty straight forward. My dad had a client come in and said that she wanted an outline of the duck on her foot. She said she wanted more than just an outline, but due to money she could only get the outline. My dad was excited about the piece and wanted to do more than just an outline so he designed this tattoo and gave her more than what she had said. Many of people have liked this picture on different social medias. My dad was very proud of this piece and his client liked it a lot. He doesn't remember exactly how long it took, it was a couple hours due to all the colors and shading involved in this tattoo. As you can see in the tattoo, he incorporated the hill from the beginning of the movie that Jack walks down and put it in the background of the tattoo. This is a very nicely done tattoo and my dad said he really enjoyed designing this for his client.

Children Portraits

Portraits are very difficult tattoos to design, with the shading and with trying to achieve the best identical portrait of the picture the artist is given. With these two pieces my dad had a woman come into the tattoo shop saying that she wanted to get portraits of both of her kids from when they were younger on her shoulder blades. She then gave him the two pictures she wanted of her kids when they were younger. He then drew the pictures on his own and added the shading to them. The shading in a portrait tattoo is the most important thing, also the most difficult thing. it is what makes the tattoo resemble the picture given. The artist must make sure to get the facial features as identical to the picture as he or she can. Portraits can take a very long time. These particular pieces took four hours each so these were a lot a of work and a lot of sitting for this woman.  However she made it through and now she has two beautiful portraits of her children on her shoulder blades.

 

Dreamcatcher

The main theme of my blog is going to be about the tattoos that my dad has designed. This is a picture of a tattoo he did of a dream catcher on his clients thigh. This tattoo took 2 and a half hours. All of his pieces are custom work that he drew himself. The feathers on this piece were free hand drawn on the leg with sharpie marker then gone over with the tattoo machine instead of being drawn, then stenciled on to the body. This dream catcher was originally drawn for a different client who changed their mind, 3 years before it was actually used on this client. The client came to my dad with an original picture but when my dad purposed the idea of his previous drawing his client like his drawing more than the ones that she already had and decided to go with that one instead.

About me

Hi! My name is Leah Beermann. I am a junior at Diamond Oaks. I am from the Oak hills district, and last year I was accepted here at Diamond Oaks. I am in the cosmetology lab at Diamond Oaks. In my lab we have learned how to wrap several different types of perm wraps. We have also learned how to do a basic layered hair cut, hair coloring, foil highlights, manicure, pedicures, and sets. My favorite thing to do in my lab are nails. I like doing acrylics and nail art. There are still a lot of things I have not learned about nails and I can not wait to learn them. One of the biggest things that someone can do to make me angry are when people lie. I do not like when people lie, there is no reason for it and I think people should just be themselves and not lie about things. Another one of my interests are tattoos and piercings. My dad is a tattoo artist at Avalon tattoo and piercing and it is a lot of fun to watch him design his own tattoos. My core theme in my blog is going to be about tattoos and piercings.
